Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is celebrated on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. This Mexican holiday commemorates loved ones who have passed away, and it is believed that their spirits return during these two days. Families prepare ofrendas, or altars, in their homes, decorated with candles, pictures of the deceased, their favorite items, decorated skulls and marigold flowers.

Charlie Kirk shooting raises conversation, questions about safety

On Wed. Sept. 10, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University. Kirk, 31 years old, was the founder and CEO of Turning Point U.S.A. and host of the popular radio show, “The Charlie Kirk Show.” According to his website, Turning Point USA is a “nonprofit organization dedicated to rallying, organizing, and empowering students to advocate for principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government.”

The Wellness Center and Campus Safety expand with move to new building

The new Campus Safety and Wellness (CSW) building opened on Mon., March 3. The Wellness Center moved from the first level of the Student Union, and the Campus Safety Department moved from the Administration building. The move provided expansions and efficiencies for both departments.
